This mare has perhaps the best overall conformation of all the mares in our little band. Equally balanced between substance and bone with an elegant, refined outline, a powerful hindquarter and a huge overstride in the walk, hers is a body type that crosses well with both the bigger bodied stallions from the D and R lines and the more modern, long-legged ones of the S and L lines. Close up Thoroughbred blood on her dam side assures the presence of athleticism, strong, dense yet refined bone, and a willingness to work. By Licensing and Performance Test Champion, Waterford, she represents the ideal result of combining generations of successful sire lines with modern English Thoroughbred mares.
She, too, received her 1A premium status at the mare shows in Bruchhausen-Vilsen, placing in the top 5 both as a 2 and 3-year-old.
Her performance test in Hoya, Germany, in June 2008, earned her State Premium Mare Candidate status, receiving very good scores in all 3 gaits, and 7s for her jumping, exceptional scores for a dressage bred mare. Her temperament is rock solid, taking everything asked of her in stride, exhibiting a calmness of demeanor that carries over to her foals. The AHS has awarded her Elite Mare status.
Her first foal,
Sundance, by Sir Donnerhall, won her Foal class, and was Reserve Champion Filly, at her first outing at the Raleigh, NC, Breed Show in September '09.
What If has produced a spectacular, mahogany bay colt Signator (2010) by Stedinger (Sandro Hit/Landadel), and a black Bay 2011 Filly by Hotline. What If is confirmed in foal to Hotline (Hofrat/DeNiro) again – due late April 2012 - and will be bred back to Stedinger for 2013.
